"Worthless" Day

Written on 2002-11-01, at 8:31 p.m.

Today was the most worthless day ever. God, I love worthless days. Videogames, intermingled with sleep and candy-eating. Good times. ("Time that you enjoyed wasting is not time wasted", or something to that effect, I think T.S. Elliot or someone once said.)

Speaking of good times, yesterday was pretty fun. The LM "pep assembly", in my mind, did not live up to the hype, but it was fun, nevertheless. No eggs this year, but some senior in the senior stands was spraying green silly string. Fortunately, it comes out really easily - and, as a bonus, looks pretty cool under black light.

After Ben and Megan dropped out, I ended the evening trick-or-treating with just Lseitz and Mary, which was quite fun. We all had cheap home-made costumes - Lseitz was Robin and her cape was made out of an old raincoat and skirt taped together with black duct tape, Mary was Supergirl with an "S" tied around her chest. Me, I was Wolverine, with cheap aluminum foil claws and bad hair. (I tried to make my hair look more like Wolverine's, only I failed quite miserably. My hair is untameable. Oh well.) The whole evening, candy-givers easily recognized Mary and Lseitz for who they were. Me, I was mistaken for Freddy Krueger and Edward Scissor hands on several occasion. Only one person guessed Wolverine - after I shook my head when they first said Krueger. The two best greetings of the evening were:

"Oh, look! It's Robin and Supergirl!" (while they neglected to even recognize my presence.) Also,

"Oh, look! It's Robin, Supergirl... and... big, bad, scary guy!"

Still, good times, all around. I didn't get as much candy as I used to. Then again, come to think of it, in previous years, I'd start trick or treating at 5:00 - this year, we started at 7:00. So, I suppose that's only fair.

As a side note, the whole issue of Wang once having a thing for Lseitz came up at one point during the evening. But, what they don't know is that Wang once also had a lesser thing for.... ooooops, maybe I shouldn't finish that sentence. Principles dictate that I can't go back and erase what's there before I caught myself, so I won't. Is it who you think it is? The world may never know... but you didn't hear from me.

Boo. I'm working a full shift tomorrow, which means I won't get to go to the game, or probably the dance. Then again, I hadn't really planned on going to the dance anyway, so I guess that's okay.

Anyway, I'm going to eat some more Fastbreaks. Whee!

Tah.
