(1) The awesomeness that is wireless internet can not be understated.
(2) I'm am in a very convenient position for people watching, which is always a pleasant and relaxing way to pass the time. (In English Comp today, we compared and contrasted the mountains, the beach, and the city as vacation spots, and I was one of the few who preferred the city - almost exclusively for the people watching opportunities, although the sophistication and artistic venues there certainly help. But I digress).
(3) Conversely, I'm in a prime position to be watched by people. (A little Asian sitting in locust position on a hill beneath a tree with an Apple laptop in his lap naturally draws a great deal of attention, and, I must admit, I do enjoy it).
(4) There are plenty of little kids - either here for various, kid-geared classes or for the day-care provided for the children of students - who run around, flailing their arms as they attempt to fly or do whatever else their imagination tells them they can do. It's fascinating, watching litttle children run up towards you, completely oblivious and lost in their own wonderful worlds, and it's a welcome change to see the excitement and joy on their faces.
Thus far, in the week or two that I've been here, I've found only one problem - insects of all types seem to enjoy jumping out the tree and onto me, or onto Daedalus, squirming beneath his keys as I tap away at them. Not to mention the whole itchiness factor usually associated with bugs. Nevertheless, it ain't so bad.
Turned in second English Comp paper today, which I started at midnight last night and finished (editing and everything) by 3:00. Woke up at 6:30, and am Hella Pooped. Nevertheless, I'm very pleased with it, so all is well. Our teacher brought to our attention today that in our class, for our first paper, there was only one "A", three "A-"s, ten "B"s, and ten "C"s. Seeing how I got an "A", I am very pleased.
On one final note (for now, anyway), after reading diaries from several people filled with various forms of angst (my own included), I've come to one conclusion: to quote Adaptation, "You are what you love, not what loves you."
To quote Min, "Think about it. Just think about it."
