I'll summarize what I want to say on it briefly, though: I firmly believe that anything you might read in the press in the next few days about this whole NASA space announcement being a distraction from the primaries is, at best, a very convenient side effect. I'm sure the primaries influenced the timing of this announcement, but, mark my words, the announcement would have come before elections anyway.
Why, you ask? Because this NASA thing has even greater implications, implications which extend beyond the election and into Bush's next term, implications which I believe will be a driving force of this administration in the very near future.
These implications can be summed up neatly in five letters, which, surprisingly, the media has thus far glossed over: C-H-I-N-A.
Ladies and gentlemen, like it or not, prepare yourselves for the next space race, and the next big thing driving America's Bush's America's foreign policy.
And remember, you heard it here first.
Expect a much more detailed entry tomorrow, when I have the energy.
